ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
§ Ability to communicate and work effectively with participants as related to age and skill level
§ Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the program.
§ Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid, fire, evacuation and illness.
§ Must be able to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Maintain Camp Manito-wish YMCA philosophies and high health care standards according to the Health Care Plan and Procedures 24 hours a day.
§ Meet American Camp Association and State requirements through implementation of Health Care plan and Procedures.
§ Maintain effective communication and collaboration among health center staff, seasonal and full time administration, staff and campers.
§ Serve as a medical resource for staff when planning their trips or calling in from the trail for guidance.
§ Screen campers at the beginning and end of each session including physical and emotional symptoms.
§ Administer medications to campers including maintaining accurate and complete documentation.
§ Working with Seasonal Administration and Counselors/Trip Leaders to ensure that all campers receive their medications as prescribed by physicians.
§ Document treatments given to campers and staff in appropriate logbooks.
§ Maintain positive relations with other Nursing staff and the Health Center Assistant who provides administrative support to Nurses and administrative personnel in Boyce Administration.
§ Integrate CampDocs into medical procedures and use to support health care and collaboration with consulting Pediatrician and area medical facilities.
§ Understand and commit to the Manito-wish Mission, Vision and Commitment Statements.
§ Understand and commit to the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
§ Understand and commit to all policies related to Child Abuse Prevention directed by Camp Manito- wish YMCA .
§ Provide opportunities for camper/staff discussion centering on Camp’s mission and personal growth.
§ Uphold rules and policies associated with Camp Manito-wish YMCA and support the group living experience.
§ Capable of effective and sustained mental, emotional, and social interaction with others in the camp’s fast-paced, youth-centered, community living environment.
§ Able to maintain mental, emotional and social resiliency (such as handling stressful situations appropriately) needed for the job in a fast-paced, interactive environment.
§ Perform other duties as assigned.
TIME OFF:
§ Housing is provided for RNs in the Health Center. At least one RN must be on site 24 hours a day.
§ Night duty is compensated @ $50/night taking turns with other nurses
§ Schedule and time off is coordinated and approved by the Camp Director.
